Carving Ideas

This artwork was created by me in a span of 3 months. It was a huge project as it is a Mural or Stone Carving of 30x30 inches. Siporex or ACC Cement block stones, which are used for construction purposes, has been used by me here. It is a 3d Mural with multiple layers and depth. In order to give it an ancient look, I have tried to paint it in a rusty bronze and green look, using acrylic paints. The coarseness of the stone gave it an effect of an old stone carving which helped me enhance this mural.

It wasn't an easy task to accomplish but this idea was worth putting all efforts into. The sculpting part took me almost whole 3 months and painting was accomplished in a whole day. The most difficult part was to break the stone in order to achieve the layers, the carving came after it. One can work on this material for not more than 5 to 6 hours a day, which seems to be enough but isn't and this makes it a lengthy procedure.

This mural portrays the 7 chakras within a human body. The concept of 7 chakras was developed in India and is followed by many religions such as Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. I am deeply connected to meditation and Indian culture. I developed this idea while meditating and this medium helped me enhance my idea. It isn't just a concept that belongs to the India Religion but was also used in the field of medicine in the postmodern era.
