“Loss and Looking”

5 people, 5 voices, 5 spaces. An exploration of places inhabited then and now. Touching on loss, hope transition and nostalgia.

It hardly needs to be said: this year’s exhibition of work by graduating artists on BxNu MFA in Fine Art takes place in the midst of highly unusual times. Loss and looking is testament to how five individual artists, often working in supporting and collaborative relation to one another, might help us plot a course through the changes circumstances we find ourselves in. It is an exhibition that variously reflects back on times past, upon things lost, even as it simultaneously looks forward, oftentimes with hope. It shows how persistence and creative adaptiveness can flourish even in desperate times.

Welcome back to the physical.

“Everyday, Future, Waiting”

Waiting in the space called ‘everyday’… experiences of self, entangle with current and past mythologies. Time circles, creating pathways tinged with longing and nostalgia. Nature sits in dialogue with the synthetic and the fabricated. Alone making sense of the world, we remember we are all connected. The future is a state of becoming. Welcome back to reality…

Location: Baltic 39
31-39 High Bridge,
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE1 1EW (England, United Kingdom)

Exhibition dates: 9th October 2020 - 25th October 2020

Everyday, Future, Waiting is a group show produced by the BxNU MFA first-year students 2019-2020. This exhibition consists of a variety of works including painting, drawing, sculpture and film.
