Reigning the Mustang

I consider horse to be my spirit animal. They are focused animals and represent freedom, individuality, nobility, courage, and strength. Which has both positives and negatives. In certain ways I find myself to have the good and bad qualities of a horse as a spirit animal. There might be a certain level of obsessiveness towards freedom and individuality that might affect the relationships in my personal life. In this output, I am trying to represent myself as a horse in multiple elements and multiple emotions. Each painting has been painted methodically while remembering the things that bring emotions that the particular painting represents.

Horses have a deep connection with me emotionally as well as mentally. There is a certain level of connection that I feel towards them that is not present with anything else. As soon as I had a shift in my personal life, I again was attracted to painting horses. In this set, I am attempting to represent myself with the help of horses.

The idea behind it was to paint 7 horses in 7 elements of nature i.e. fire, water, air, metal, forest, wood, and ether. Each element represents an emotion that I am dealing with at this stage in my life. Fire represents the raging anger that acts as the centre of my existence and behaviour. Air represents the movement and flows in life, which keeps on changing in accordance with the weather. Water for me represents sadness and tears. Forest for me represents peace and my connection with nature. Wood is an indication of sturdiness and stability. Metal represents rigidity and unwillingness to relax, but also the shine from it. Ether/space represents the mysteriousness that my life is.

Elements of nature are deeply connected to Indian culture and mythologies. But also each element of nature is so unique that one can study it deeply, paint them and even write about them and yet have so much more to say. And horses are the perfect connection to each element.
